Basmati Rice is a variety of rice family known for its aroma, slender-grained, and large size. It is widely grown in India, Nepal and, Pakistan. However, basmati is limited to a few districts of India, Nepal, and Pakistan. 1509 Basmati Rice is the Queen of premium aromatic species that have been cultivated in most fertile lands of the aforementioned countries. 1509 Basmati is often known as one of the Traditional Pakistani Basmati Rice.

History: Basmati Rice has been cultivated for centuries on the Indian sub-continent. It also has been mentioned around 1767 in folk songs of Punjab and Haryana. The roots of the word basmati come from Sanskrit words namely ‘Mayup’ which means Ingrained and ‘Vas’ which means aroma together became Vasmati or Basmati. The word ‘Basmati’ meant ‘fragrant’ in the oxford dictionary; a good aptagram coined by the oxford.

Rice Processing: Rice processing involves stoning, cleaning, paddy separating, de-husking, milling, and grading. The basic and most important step in rice processing is cleaning. The impurity of the paddy like dust, sand, grass, and dirt is minimized. The stones and impure paddy are removed from the paddy mixture through de-stoning. De-husking differentiates bran and husk from paddy and saves rice of homogenous size. The rice produced is clean and extensively milled. Unhusked paddy is further removed from rice by the rice separator. Hull and Brans are removed from the paddy grains to produce polished rice grains through rice milling. The remaining grains are rubbed against each other to gain white-rice.
